Designer Collaboration: WØRKS x Vipp x Cult Design
WØRKS melbourne is collaborating with iconic Danish design house, Vipp, and leading Australian interior design retailer, Cult Design, as part of Vipp’s 80th birthday celebration. We’re proud to work alongside these renowned companies that put meticulous design front and centre.
The Vipp story began in 1932 when Holger Nielsen designed the world’s first pedal bin for his wife Marie’s hairdressing salon. Built by hand in Holger’s one-man workshop, that innocuous bin would go on to become an institution in Danish design and launch Vipp onto the global market.
Now run by Holger’s daughter, Jette Egelund, along with her two children and 45 employees in Copenhagen, Denmark, Vipp is an internationally renowned design house that produces everything from the full-scale Vipp Kitchen and Vipp Bathroom to the striking Vipp Shelter and Vipp Hotel. And, of course, the iconic Vipp pedal bin.
With an ethos of ‘design first’, Cult Design has been an Australian destination for beautiful design since 1997. Over the past 22 years, Cult has established and nurtured relationships with the world’s top interior design houses and curated stunning collections of furniture, lighting and objects from iconic international brands.
Cult has a strong affinity with Scandinavian design, and champions renowned designers from the region including Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner and Louis Poulson. With showrooms in all major cities, Cult is the leading design destination in Australia.
To celebrate Vipp’s 80th anniversary, CEO Jette Egelund has released the company’s debut furniture line. The highly anticipated collection includes sofas and dining furniture along with a coffee table, day bed and lounge chair. Vipp’s furniture collection is rolling out globally with a series of launches from New York to London throughout 2019.
The Australian launch of the Vipp furniture collection will take place in the form of a week-long Open Home at Cult Design’s Sydney showroom. WØRKS melbourne has been invited to showcase our KØBENHAVN and ÅRHUS collections, which, given their strong focus on meticulous Danish design, have been identified as natural partners for the Vipp kitchen and bathroom.
